It was an epic weekend of competition at Slideways Go Karting World Pimpama, with the Slideways Triple Challenge being decided on Friday night, while the Slideways Junior (ages 12-15) and Cadet (ages 7-11) Sprint Series turned on a show yesterday.
Slideways Triple Challenge Pimpama
Following rounds at Slideways Go Karting Gold Coast Nerang, and Slideways Go Karting Brisbane Eagle Farm, the Slideways Triple Challenge concluded with another feature length sprint under lights.
Kicking off proceedings was a ten-minute-long qualifying session, with Liam Hydes the only driver to break into the 39sec bracket with a hot time of 39.930sec.
Second on the grid was Jackson Faulkner, over Elliot Cleary, then Alex Jacovides, Chaad Hewitt, Christian Bishop, Gavin Faulkner, Scott Shaw, Benn Wilson, Shaun Willcocks, Brodie Smith, Matt Jeffs, Ian Harvey, Peter Hendra, Allan Plummer, Darryn Van Hout, Zac Christie and Gavin Clark.
Hydes held on for victory in the opening 12 lap sprint, holding off Jackson Faulkner by 1.087sec.
Third went to Cleary, then Jacovides (40.069sec fastest lap), Hewitt, Bishop, Wilson, Gavin Faulkner, Shaw, Smith, Willcocks, Hendra, Jeffs, Harvey, Christie, Plummer, Van Hout and Clark.
With the random invert setting the order for race two, it was Jacovides out front with the win by 1.345sec over Cleary, with Jackson Faulkner only half a second behind in third.
Hewitt was fourth, ahead of Hydes, Wilson (quick lap- 39.904sec), Gavin Faulkner, Bishop, Shaw, Smith, Hendra, Willcocks, Jeffs, Harvey, Christie, Van Hout and Clark.
Combined points from the qualifying and the opening heats set the grid for the 30-minute-long finale, with Jacovides passing Hydes and a tight battle to eventually register a 10sec win after 45 circuits.
Hydes held on for second, ahead of Jackson Faulkner, Bishop, Hewitt, Cleary (best lap- 39.847sec), then Gavin Faulkner, Smith, Jeffs, Shaw, Willcocks, Hendra, Christie, Van Hout, Wilson and Clark.
Overall for the evening it was Hydes on top from Jacovides and Jackson Faulkner, who claimed an eight point win the final Slideways Triple Challenge standings over Cleary.

Slideways Junior Sprint Series
With qualifying extended to six laps, it was Carter Skewes with the hot time, claiming pole with a best lap of 39.687sec.
Second on the grid went to series leader Chaad Hewitt, then Luc Jacobsen, Elliot Cleary, Olivia Herbison, Ethan Bryson, Leo Ninness, Jordyn Durrington, Jude Livermore, Jack Stimson, Campbell MacMillan, Pierce Rathbone, Liam Hayward and Zaid Martinez.
Hewitt had to work hard for his opening race win, passing Skewes late in the race for a 0.523sec victory.
Third went to Jacobsen, from Cleary, Herbison, Bryson, Livermore, Ninness, Stimson, MacMillan, Durrington, Rathbone and Martinez, with Hewitt the fastest on track (39.597sec).
With the random invert determining the grid for race two, it remained the Chaad Hewitt show, this time with a 0.230sec win over Cleary, who set the race’s fastest lap with a 39.389sec time.
Jacobsen held tough in third, then Herbison, Livermore, Skewes, Bryson, Ninness, Stimson, MacMillan, Rathbone, Durrington, Hayward and Martinez.
In a rarity for Slideways sprints, Hewitt whipped out the broom and clean swept the day, this time with a more comfortable 2.203sec margin over Skewes, who was a second clear of Cleary, who was once again fastest on track with a hot time of 39.361sec.
Fourth went to Jacobsen, then Herbison, Bryson, Livermore, Stimson, Ninness, MacMillan, Durrington, Rathborn, Hayward and Martinez.
In overall points for the day it was Hewitt on top from Skewes and Cleary, the encouragement award went to Jacobsen, while the best and fairest bonus point went to Hewitt, Skewes and Ninness.
With one event remaining, Hewitt now holds down an 88 point advantage over Cleary, with 125 points still on the line.

Slideways Cadet Sprint Series
Qualifying set the tone for the day, while also highlighting the parity between the karts, with only one tenth of a second separating the top five on the starting grid, which saw Jordi Slater (46.383sec) lead away from Ellie Wilson, Zach Naylor, Raymond Mallin and Luke Wilson.
Daniel Sullivan lined up from sixth, then Annabel Kennedy, Daniel Hughes and Dylan Kammerlocher.
Slater led all the way in the opening ten-lap heat, heading home Ellie Wilson, Mallin (46.038sec best lap), Luke Wilson, Naylor, Kennedy, Sullivan, Kammerlocher and Hughes.
With the chook lotto determining the race two start order, it was Luke Wilson (fastest race lap – 46.198sec) who held on for a 0.228sec win over Mallin, then Ellie Wilson, Naylor, Slater, Sullivan, Kennedy, Kammerlocher and Hughes.
For the finale, combined points from qualifying and the opening two races saw Slater start up front, from where he was able to draw out a 2.109sec margin at the chequered flag.
Ellie Wilson held on for second over her cousin Luke Wilson, then Mallin, Sullivan, Naylor, Kennedy, Kammerlocher and Hughes.
Mallin (46.030sec) was the fastest on track, with all drivers registering times in the 46sec bracket.
Overall for the event it was Slater on top from Ellie and Luke Wilson, Mallin was a deserving winner of the encouragement award, with the peer voted best and fairest bonus points going to Ellie Wilson, Mallin and Slater.
The series is set to go right down to the wire, with Luke Wilson and Naylor separated by only 17 points after nine rounds.
