The fifth round of the Slideways Enduro Series at Slideways Go Karting World at Pimpama provided even more wet and wild action, as the heavens opened for the second consecutive event.
Proving that they masters in the rain, Global Action Photography came through for their second round win in as many outings, with a strong drive to the conditions, as teams had to battle slick tyres on at times soaked track.
A pair of downpours during the qualifying sessions made the grid somewhat of a lottery, and left the track awash for the start of the race.
Jake Albertson led out for Global Action Photography, with Pete Brown’s middle stint backed up by Camron Robertson’s run to the chequered flag.
Second on the day were the 1788 Kanagaroos, fresh home from their trip to the Sodi World Series Finals in France, where they were the top ranked team.
Starting sixth, Ryan Mount led the team away, with James Shields second behind the wheel, with Josh Williams bringing the trio home.
Showing how tough the conditions were, only the top two teams completed the full 64 lap/65 minute journey.
Third place went to reigning series champions TSR, who came out of the gate strongly, but like many competitors, battled through the tough conditions.
A consolation prize for the team was the fastest race lap, with a 53.559sec, just prior to the race ending downpour, with the quick lap time still some 10sec off the normal dry race pace.
Fourth position on the day were pole sitters CTS Motorsports, who beat home newcomers B Amateur, then Multi-21, who put in a strong drive to finish sixth, ahead of Old Dogs and Team Toirkens.
In ninth were the Slideways Young Guns, a team of the best and brightest drivers from the Slideways Junior Racing Series, with the trio of Jacques Goodman, Euan Shields and Liam Hydes putting in a solid drive in totally unfamiliar conditions for the youngsters.
Rounding out the field was the Excel Racing Series outfit BPRO.
After five rounds, the point standings are led by Global Action Photography (4128), only just ahead of CTS Motorsport (4109), TSR (3813), 1788 Kangaroos (2623), Multi-21 (2040), CTS Motorsport Heavy (1370) and Old Dogs (1162).
Coming up next on the Slideways racing calendar is the Sprint Series event on July 2, with classes for Cadets and Juniors, as well as Senior Lights and Heavies.
The sixth round of the Slideways Enduro Series is set down for Sunday July 16.
