Slideways Hyundai Excel Team
Slideways Go Karting Centres will be represented by four entries in this season’s Keema Excel Cup, which kicks off at Lakeside Park this weekend.
The four cars from the BPRO outfit will be led by Slideways’ own Cam Wilson alongside Brett Parrish, who will be joined on track by continuing BPRO drivers Robert Buckley and Simon Winters.
Wilson this season will be splitting his time behind the wheel between the Hyundais, as well as the Australian Trans Am Series, in which he recently debuted, scoring a race win from pole position at Lakeside.
Last season in his first full season in the Excel Cup, Wilson finished third in the season point score with eight wins and 14 podium finishes from 16 race starts.
Wilson also claimed the Hyundai X3 Nationals at Morgan Park Raceway, where he took a clean sweep of race wins against the best competitors in the country.
Following on from a distinguished career in go karts, Wilson has raced extensively in V8 Utes, Production Cars, Saloon Cars, Mazda MX5s, Geminis and HQ Holdens.
Parrish meanwhile is a three time Excel Cup Series champion, having claimed 37 race wins and 77 podium places since joining the series in 2011.
“Brett is obviously a very good Excel competitor, a front runner and multiple champion, and I am absolutely stoked to have been asked to join the team,” said Wilson.
“When Brett found out that the car I was driving last year was being sold and that it was looking like I wouldn’t be in the series again, I was blown away that he wanted to keep me in it.
“I’m really looking forward to going racing with the BPRO crew, they are a great bunch of guys.
“I’m feeling blessed to be racing with BPRO in the Excels, but also the Fataz crew with Ian and Kaye Woodward in the Australian Trans Am Series, it should be a fantastic year ahead.”
The Keema Excel Cup this season will feature at eight Queensland Raceway and Lakeside Park events, which this weekend’s season opener set to see a bumper field of 28 cars take to the fast and flowing northern Brisbane layout.
