The fourth round of the Slideways Open Sprint Series was contested over the weekend at Slideways Go Karting World Pimpama, with a capacity field greeting the starter for three 10-minute-long races contested on the normal track direction.
Like all Slideways race event, the day was run for points in the Slideways Scholarship Program, which has the ultimate goal of getting Slideways racers on the grid at Bathurst.

Qualifying was extended to four laps duration due to slick track conditions following overnight rain, with Jackson Faulkner picking up where he left the last round, setting the pole time with a 40.772sec lap.
Liam Hydes was second fastest from Gavin Faulkner, newcomer Ben Hoffman, Alex Jacovides, Chris Rice, Peter Hendra, Clayton Hydes, Jordan Kirk, Brett Want, Lachlan Powell, John Willmott, Clint Williams, Chloe Buck, Stefanie Willmott and Mauritz Du Toit.
Jackson Faulkner took full advantage of his prime starting position to clear away to a commanding opening race win, with a final margin of 6.270sec after setting a best lap of 40.157sec.
Gavin Faulkner made it a one-two result for the family, with Liam Hydes third, ahead of Jacovides, Hoffman, Clayton Hydes, Rice, Hendra, Kirk, Powell, Buck, Want, Williams, Stefanie Willmott, John Willmott and Du Toit.
With the random invert chook lotto reverse grid in play for race two, the top-five in the starting order were switched.
Coming through for the win was Jacovides, fending off Liam Hydes by only 0.254sec after 12 circuits.
Gavin Faulkner was third, 0.983sec off Jacovides, followed by Jackson Faulkner, Clayton Hydes, Hendra, Rice, Want, Powell, Hoffman, Kirk, Buck, Du Toit, Williams, Stefanie and John Willmott.
Jackson Faulkner was once again the fastest on track with a best time of 40.579sec.
The grid for the finale was determined by combined points from qualifying and the opening heats, with Jackson Faulkner overcoming a mid-race red flag to retrieve a stopped kart to win by 1.739sec, along the way setting a quick time of 40.274sec.
Second place went to Liam Hydes, then Gavin Faulkner, Jacovides, Hoffman, Clayton Hydes, Kirk, Powell, Buck, Williams, Stefanie Willmott, Du Toit, Rice, Want, Hendra and John Willmott.
The overall podium for the day reflected the final race results, with Jackson Faulkner on top from Liam Hydes and Gavin Faulkner.
The best and fairest points for the event to Rice, Hoffman and Liam Hydes, while Hoffman was also given the encouragement award.
In overall series points after four events, it is Jackson Faulkner on top from Liam Hydes, Gavin Faulkner, Jacovides, Keenan Faulkner, Buck, Clayton Hydes, Rice, Christian Bishop and Leighton Cook.

The earlybird entry is open until midnight on the Monday prior to each event, while the FREE practice race can be used anytime on the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the event, but remember: always phone ahead and book to avoid disappointment!
NB: Early Bird FREE practice is not eligible to be used for the Slideways Karting Academy.
