Special School Holidays Program – January 2019
Slideways Safe Driver Education, our dedicated school’s program, is set to hit overdrive in 2019 following successful pilot runs – with prospective drivers aged 12-18 year able to sample the session in our special school holiday offering.

The program has been designed to suit pre-learners, or those who have recently earned their driver’s license, empowering them with knowledge and practical experience to make safe choices when driving.
The program will give participants a positive mindset towards motoring, make them aware of driving standards and choices, while also giving them experience driving a motorised vehicle in a safe and controlled environment.
Here are some of the young driver facts and the reasons for why this course is necessary:
- 45% of all young Australian injury deaths are due to road traffic crashes
- Young drivers (17-25 years) represent 25% of all Australian road deaths, but make up less than 15% of the licenced driver population
- A 17-year-old driver with a P1 licence is four times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than a driver over 26 years of age
The course is about teaching good habits early and enabling future young drivers to make safe choices.
The program is split into three distinct segments:
- On track driving
- Practical car maintenance
- Classroom based driving awareness issues
