Slideways Sprint Race Series

The format for the third Sprint event for the season saw competitors take to the track for a pair of 15-minute-long races, followed by a feature 30-minute encounter.

The playing was once again levelled using the Sodi weight box system, while the format saw a random draw grid for the first race, followed by an inverted order for the second, with combined points determining the starting line-up for the finale.

In the opening race, it was Liam Hydes who proved to be the class of the field, with his victory against top-flight competition excellent preparation for his attack on the Sodi World Series finals in Italy later this year, where he will represent Slideways and Australia in the Junior section of the competition.

Second in the race was a staunch effort by Stef Russell, ahead of Keenan Faulkner, then Jackson Faulkner, Michael Seeto, Samuel Hayward, Jason Fischer, Richard Trevillien, Gavin Faulkner, Christian Bishop, Robert Fernandez, Alex Heaton, Matt White, David Reiser, Clayton Hydes, Phil Edwards, Shaun Willcocks, Cody Cotton, Wade Roberson and Michael Gibbs.

Fastest on track proved to Edwards, the only driver to crack the 40sec barrier with a 39.938sec lap set on the comeback trail through the field.

Jackson Faulkner bounced back to win the second race, ahead of Christian Bishop, with Alex Heaton rounding out the podium.

Fourth went to Gavin Faulkner, ahead of Fernandez, Liam Hydes, Edwards, Reiser, Seeto, Clayton Hydes, Willcocks, Cotton, Russell, Trevillien, Hayward, Fischer, White, Roberson and Gibbs, with Kennan Faulkner and early retirement after a first lap skirmish.

Seeto was fourth, from Fischer, Heaton, Gavin Faulkner, Hayward, Clayton Hydes, Fernandez, Cotton, Edwards, Reiser, Willcocks, Roberson, Trevillien, Gibbs, White and Russell.
