Youngsters proved that the future of motorsport is bright, with a starring role at the tenth and final round of the Slideways Sprint Series, under lights at Slideways Go Karting World Pimpama.
For the second consecutive event, the Slideways Sprint Series was combined with the Slideways Ladies Race Series to form one bumper field, with racing taking place on the normal direction of travel.
The event was a return to the mini-enduro format, with a pair of 15-minute races prior to a 30-minute-long final, with a random grid draw for the opener inverted for the second race, with combined points setting the starting order for the third encounter.
Starting near the front for the first race, Jackson Faulkner continued his awesome run of form, passing Olivia Herbison late in the running to claim victory by only 0.222sec.
Third went to Christian Bishop, from Leighton Cook, Amanda Rohde, Keenan Faulkner, Scott Shaw, Liam Hydes, Lewis Spencer, Chloe Herbison, Shania Lau, Nathan Gallagher, Bianca Williams, Phil Edwards, Gavin Faulkner and Chloe Buck.
Jackson Faulkner’s fastest race lap was a 40.247sec time.
Faulkners Junior made it two from two, with Keenan winning the second heat by a clear five second margin over Hydes, with Spencer third, holding off Edwards in the run to the chequered flag.
Cook was next from Shaw, Olivia Herbison, Bishop, Gallagher, Rohde, Chloe Herbison, Buck, Jackson Faulkner, Lau, Williams and Gavin Faulkner.
Keenan Faulkner was the fastest on circuit, dipping into the 39s with a hot time of 39.826sec.
The race two victor proved too good in the half hour final, with Keenan Faulkner registering victory by a margin of 7.872sec, setting a best lap time of 40.084sec.
Olivia Herbison did a masterful job to run a clear second all race long amidst top-notch competition, finishing ahead of Hydes, who had his work cut out keeping the pack at bay.
Fourth was Cook, ahead of Bishop, Spencer, Jackson Faulkner, Shaw, Edwards, Chloe Herbison, Gavin Faulkner, Rohde, Lau, Gallagher, Williams and Buck.
On the overall podium for the Sodi World Series segment, Keenan Faulkner was first from Hydes and Cook, with Bishop named best and fairest, while Spencer won the encouragement award.
For the Ladies classification, Olivia Herbison came out on top from Rohde and Chloe Herbison, who also claimed the best and fairest, while Lau was given the encouragement award.
The end of season prizes will be announced following the upcoming final round of the Slideways Enduro Series.
